Instagram Basics Part One

Instagram is such an easy way to gain new eyes on your business. I know it can seem daunting to manage another social media platform, but there are a few things you can set up ahead of time to make sure people are finding you! I am NOT an Instagram expert, however I know enough to be dangerous and I’m going to share those tips with you. Let's get right into it.

Important settings:

• Professional account

• Link to your business page

• Use the correct industry

• Contact via business email

• Enable two factor authentication

IG Handle aka username

• Business Name

Name: this is the ONLY part of the bio that is searchable so don’t reuse your business name here, instead put something your ideal customer would search for. Examples:

• Women’s Contemporary Boutique

• Blues & Rock Musician

• NFT Expert

• Accessories Boutique

• Children’s Boutique

Bio

• Do not put links except in website field

• Don’t use hashtags, it looks messy and they aren’t searchable here anyway

• I’m a fan of strategically placed emojis here

• Summarize what you offer in one sentence or less

• If applicable put your location

• Highlight something special about your business/ important information

• Call to action
